The Presidents Address
I am deeply honoured to have been asked to take up the post of the President of the West Midlands Branch of the National Association Retired Firefighters, an invitation that I gladly accept.
As many Members will be aware, I am committed to upholding the great traditions of our Fire Service. I see this primarily as having pride in service to the community, this must be built on a bedrock of operational excellence as well as effective prevention based activity.
As our prevention work begins to take effect, the numbers of incidents that our staff have to deal with is reducing dramatically, this makes our commitment to training even more important.
I hold the belief that the West Midlands Fire Service is one of the best in the country, thanks to the hard work and dedication of many especially those who are now members of NARF, the challenge for me and the current generation of firefighters is to make this the best Fire Service in the world.
